Lesson Learned: Hit it big with the small

The idea is that in any industry there are a few products that hit it big and make the owners a lot of money, but as you go down the spectrum there are millions of other alternatives to that product in the category which can be harnessed together to provide enormous revenue. This is about niche economies. Maybe you aren’t selling the new hit album but you are selling an entire catalogue of Swedish-German Polka. It explores the difference between a digital and physical retail world.

Not only should you read this book you should subscribe to Wired whose editor in chief is Chris Anderson. The generation just a little bit ahead of us created the internet bubble that popped, we get to come behind and be smart and create real value learning from our predecessors mistakes.
